So we buddied up with Cane Creek to do something about it. The result is an exclusive version of their 110 headset in a 1" threaded configuration. We feel that this is

Being vintage bicycle buffs, we've been lamenting the lack of high end options for 1" threaded headsets that allow for cable hangers and a spacer stack. So we buddied up with Cane Creek to do something about it. The result is an exclusive version of their 110 headset in a 1" threaded configuration.

We feel that this is not only a heck of a headset, but an absolutely spectacular value as well. The highest quality cups paired with their venerable ZN40 bearings.  It comes with one "keyed" 5mm spacer, and two matching non-keyed ones. Please note that the ZN40 bearings do require a bit of break in. 

We're cleverly referring to it as the Wilde X Cane Creek 110ZN. The branding is very subtle as our logo isn't the point, having a headset that seamlessly blends into a classy build is. If you don't like the Wilde icon logo on the lower cup, simply rotate it toward the back and hide it under the down tube. 

*Installation Note - The spacer with the grub screw should be nested into the top cup of the headset in the recessed area. The grub screw spacer takes the place of a traditional keyed spacer and is intended to fit in the keyway. The grub screw should not be tightened against the steerer, it should fit loosely into the keyway but not rotate. If your steerer does not have a keyway, you can remove the grub screw and use the spacer without it.*

Don’t waste your money. The instructions make no sense and the metal poles are either sized wrong for the product or screw holes are incorrectly placed, but no two poles matched in size and placement making it impossible to put this together without the panels being warped. No matter how I tried to switch the poles to see if I had them wrong, they always turned out warped and incorrectly fit. I finally gave up and threw everything out - I wasted $50 on this junk and because I didn’t try to put it together immediately after I bought it, it is way too late for a refund. Lesson learned!
